Bottom of the dishwasher held about an inch of water after every single cycle. A small toy piece had lodged in the drain pump, removed it and it drains completely now.
Cloudy glasses, a puddle at the bottom, or a door that refuses to latch, these are the calls we handle daily. We track down the actual cause before anything gets replaced.
Pick what your dishwasher is doing below and we'll tell you what's usually behind it.
Water Left Standing
A shallow puddle sitting in the bottom no matter how the cycle finishes. Almost always the drain pump has something lodged in it, or the drain hose has a kink.
Dishes Coming Out Cloudy
A dull, gritty film left behind on glassware even after a full wash. Usually traced back to a spray arm with clogged holes or a filter overdue for a clean.
Won't Start At All
Press the button and get absolutely nothing back, no hum, no lights. Most models refuse to run unless the door latch is registering as fully closed.
Grinding During The Wash
An unpleasant grinding sound partway through the cycle that wasn't there before. Usually just a stray piece of debris caught in the chopper near the pump.
Leaking From The Door
A thin line of water escaping around the door seam mid-cycle. The rubber gasket around the door edge hardens over the years and stops sealing tight.
Dishes Not Drying
Everything comes out clean but still noticeably wet at the end. Could be the heating element, the vent fan, or simply a rinse aid dispenser that's stopped releasing.
