Fridge started making a grinding noise every time it kicked on, loud enough to hear from the next room over. Compressor mount had come loose, tightened and lubricated, dead silent now.
A fridge that's stopped cooling, started icing up, or is leaking onto the floor is usually a quick fix once we know which part failed. We figure that out first, then fix it, often the same day.
Pick what your fridge is doing below and we'll tell you what's usually behind it.
Fridge Isn't Cold Enough
Milk going off early or produce wilting faster than it should. Often a damper stuck part-closed, or a compressor that's losing its ability to keep up.
Puddle Under The Fridge
Water showing up on the floor with no obvious source. Nine times out of ten it's a drain tube frozen solid somewhere behind the back panel.
Fridge Side Freezing Things
Lettuce turning to ice, drinks freezing solid on the top shelf. Usually a thermostat sensor reading the temperature wrong, or a damper stuck too far open.
New Noise You Can't Place
A buzz, rattle, or hum that wasn't there a month ago. Usually a fan motor starting to wear out, or the fridge having settled slightly unlevel on the floor.
Ice Maker Gone Quiet
Bin stays empty no matter how long you wait, dispenser doesn't even try. Usually the inlet valve has frozen shut, common once the weather turns cold.
Never Seems To Shut Off
Motor running around the clock, side panel warm to the touch. Usually the condenser coils are thick with dust, choking the airflow it needs to cycle normally.
